Wow,  I can’t believe our little sweetheart is already 6 months old. How crazy is that. So as you can tell we’ve all been having fun around here lately. One of the bigger changes (besides being sealed and having the adoption final) is that Joy has decided she is ready to move past just formula.  Here is her first feeding (just rice cereal), but I’m not sure that she was all that impressed.

We don’t have our official 6 month appointment for another week or so, but I did my own little growth charting. She is 25 inches long and 16 pounds. Can’t believe how much she is growing. It’s really a lot of fun to watch. She’s getting into her own personality more and more. Dave had fun the other day playing Rock Band with Joy. She was quite fascinated with the drums. It was prety cute!

We have a question for everyone. If we straightened Joy’s hair would it be as long as Julia’s? For those that don’t know, this is Nick’s youngest and Joy’s cousin who is about three months younger than Joy. We sure had fun with Nick and Becky, and Ben & Julia this week.

Overall the last six months have been incredibly wonderful and happy. I think Joy says it best for us in this next picture. This is how I feel daily!

So I saved this post as number three in this series and saved it for last because I wanted some time to try to put together my feelings. I hope that I’m able to properly express my feelings. Saturday and the entire weekend could not have been more perfect in my opinion.

As David and I made the decision last September that we would no longer see any more doctors in trying to become parents I never dreamed that our happiness would come so quickly and so beautifully. Joy truly has been the greatest blessing in our lives. I believe so strongly that she has been worth the wait that we’ve had. She brightens every day in our home. She brings a sense of energy, excitedness, happiness, laughter, and intrique to our home that wasn’t their previously. Her smiles are infectious, her giggles are hilarious. It seems so trite to say that we love her, as I feel that love doesn’t describe the deep feelings of caring and adoration that we have for her. Many times we have been told how blessed this little girl is to be in our lives and a part of our family. David and I were very puzzled by this comment at first. We feel that it is our lives that have been so deeply blessed by her.

Saturday was a gorgeous sunny day. We couldn’t have asked for better weather here in the Pacific Northwest. The drive to the temple was started with prayer. I drove up with April and Mary and Joy. We had some great visiting time and I very much enjoyed the peace that accompanied us throughout the morning. We arrived nice and early at the temple and enjoyed some time to take early pictures of us as a family and with some friends.  (Thank you to those that helped in bringing our paperwork to the temple when we had forgotten. I immediatedly was back at ease knowing that it was all in capable hands).  The sealing was beautiful. I will never forget the feeling of sitting in the sealing room, seeing the forever in those mirrors, watching our family and friends file in. As I watched all of this and then heard the wonderful sound of my daughter coming down the hall with grandma is when the tears started. When my mother handed her to me the feelings that I had of “this is the moment that we were creating forever for our family” were amazing. She looked up and just stared at her daddy for a fair amount of time. She really does love him so much. The feelings that were there in the temple were beautiful and I am so grateful for all of it. I don’t feel that I can properly express my feelings. I sit here with tears in my eyes, full of gratitude for the opportunity to have the blessing of the sealing power on this earth.  We have been given the greatest gift imaginable. To be given a child when we were unable to create this for ourselves, the Lord stepped in and gave us our wonderful Joy. How could we ever thank our Heavenly Father enough to let us have this precious child in our home and lives.

Part two of this series of posts is all about friends. We had so many friends from our ward that came and supported us up at the temple which was fantastic. I also had two very special friends that came to be a part of my week.  April and Mary are two of my best friends from when I lived back East in Delaware.  After 14 years of not being together I decided it was time, and what better reason than to take place in this special weekend. I’m so excited that they were able to be here for part of us becoming an eternal family. We had a little too much fun with all the pictures we kept taking. We talked, laughed, and cried for hours. It was so much fun to catch up on eachothers families.  We even thought that we would act like teenagers and try to stay up all night. I think we’re probably all still paying for that.  It was hilarious as the next morning when I walked into their room I announced that we were not as young as we used to be. It was great we stayed up until after 4:30 AM. Hello, what were we thinking?!!! We decided at midnight to make popcorn and seven layer dip. I believe we truly were relieving our childhood. It was so great. And we can’t wait to get together again, hopefully more frequently.

So we’re goint to start out with family for the series of these next few posts. This last week my younger sister Laurissa and husband Blake, also younger brother Nick and wife Becky (plus cute little Ben and Julia), and youngest sister Heidi were here. David’s Aunt Cindy and Uncle Bruce also came up for our wonderful weekend. It’s been so much fun having all the family here with lots of food and fun. We’ve had a couple of BBQ’s and fun get togethers, with plenty of late night games. We also went to the park and had a picnic lunch on Monday. Joy liked baby Julia.  It was pretty cute to see her smile so big when she kept looking at her.

It sure was fun to have everyone up. We’re so grateful to everyone that made the effort to be here and hope everyone had as much fun as we did.

So in case all of you were wondering what that really loud scream was around 10 AM this morning, that was me. Apparently I was a little excited so I figured I would explain. We now have a Decree of Adoption in our house! It’s official, Joy Ellen Millet is our little girl. THANK YOU to EVERYONE that has been a part of this, whether that means legally, physically (A Guardian Angel Adoptions & our wonderful family and friends), and emotionally. You guys are all so wonderful. What a beautiful blessing this is in our lives!!! We are just beyond thrilled at the moment and are so looking forward to Saturday when we will be sealed.

Well I know that I didn’t get this posted on the 4th, but that was the initial hope. At least I had good intentions right! So I hope that everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July. I hope you had a moment to reflect on the sacrifices that have been made in order for us to all enjoy this beautiful country that we live in with all the freedoms that we have. I truly am grateful and proud to be an American.

Of course it wouldn’t be much of a post if I didn’t put pictures of beautiful Joy so here they come. We really enjoyed a wonderful day yesterday. So here is Joy in one of her 4th of July outfits. I know you’re like one of them! Does this child need more than one 4th of July outfit. I say yes! Hello, she spits up and drolls on tons of her clothes. And you all have to admit, what girl could have too many adorable outfits! Especially this one. She also had a fun time when Grandma put her on the rocking horse for the first time. She reached right up and put her hands on the little handles. It was pretty cute.

We had a BBQ of course and Lorna, the kids, mom, and Anita (Dave’s cousin, up for a wedding) were all here. I think we had a good time. The kids love to find my stuffed animals around the house, so I know the snowman isn’t exactly 4th of Julyish, but that’s alright!

We had a great time with everyone here and certainly enjoyed the fun display of fireworks put on by all of our neighbors.

So this may be just a random post, but I thought it would be kind of fun to let David know how much I love and appreciate him. He’s really been trying to help me the last few weeks in recognizing areas of my life where I can simplify things, and basically de-clutter both the house and my schedule. He is so good at knowing that when I get too much on my plate, which seems to happen fairly frequently lately, that I get super stressed out and to put it mildly, I’m not really very nice to be around. So he caught one of these fun moments on camera the other day where we were all relaxed and just having a great time! David, I love you and appreciate everything you do for me!
