So life obviously gets in the way. I know I used to update this thing like once a week, but oh well. Just thought I’d throw in some recent happenings over here.

Here is joy's hair after I've brushed it. Truly not an easy task.

Than before she gets any ideas I quickly braid her hair before she gets down from breakfast. I really am getting better.

And just for fun.... This is what happens several days later when you take the braids out. HEHEHE!!!!!

One of the first times eating corn on the cob. She does love corn. Also a different way of styling the hair. You'll notice I truly am trying.

So for FHE this week at Grandma and Grandpa’s we had homemade happiness, or at least I thought it was pretty stinking awesome.

Wanna know what happens when you take home grown basil, off the back porch....

Pick some beautifully ripe tomatoes (also on the porch)....

make your own pesto from previously picked basil......

apply said pesto to homemade pizza crust.....

garnish now pesto pizza with fresh picked tomatoes.....

add some fresh mozzarella (cuz seriously it's so much better than the grated stuff when you go all out like this on everything else)....

than bake in the oven? Seriously folks, I don't think it gets more delicious than this. It truly was BEYOND wonderful!!!!

I think everyone enjoyed the evening. It was totally worth the work. Cuz truly the pizza was pretty stinking good stuff. I did make a “normal” pizza for the kids. Regular tomato sauce with grated cheese, olives, and meat. They enjoyed it too.

Ok,  it’s been forever, I know I know. And I’m not really going to update a whole lot at this time other than pics of Joy. And a fun little video that I randomly got of her this last week. We have been very blessed with a beautiful girl in our lives and love her to pieces. Enjoy and sorry I’m not in more of a typing mood! She is officially walking and just loves it. And at the bottom of all these pics you’ll notice an adorable video of Joy. I had been on the phone for awhile last week and when I finished. She picked up my phone and just started walking laps around the kitchen island and talking away. But the best part is you know how we all kind of joke that babies speak Chinese cuz none of us understand what they are saying. Well Joy doesn’t speak Chinese, she happens to speak German. Give her a moment and you’ll see what we mean.

Joy speaks German

Ok, So I know what you are all thinking! Joy is one? How did it happen? I too am wondering what has happened with the year. I can not believe that a year ago, our bundle of joy came into our lives.  It has been a remarkable year filled mostly with much happiness. Joy is so wonderful. To see pictures of her birth to now is amazing to watch how she has grown and come to life. She continues to show us her personality daily. At her 1 year check up last week she was 19 pounds 5 ounces (25th percentile), 29 3/4 inches (25th percentile) and her head I don’t remember the dimension but was in the 95th percentile. Apparently we have a very smart baby!

We decided to celebrate with a small party. Rich and Lorna and the kids came to grandma and grandpa’s to help with cake and ice cream and presents. I think everyone had a great time! Lorna made a beautiful cake, that tasted FANTASTIC!  So here are a few pictures of the great time we all had. I’m saving the cake ones for last because they’re so fun, but we did have cake before presents!

I know, it’s been absolutely forever since I’ve posted, so I apologize for that. I’m going to mainly post pictures and not talk a lot. Besides most of you guys just want to see the pictures anyway. So I’m going to start with Christmas and just put in most of our pics. It was great having family here and all the fun things. You’ll see pics of the kids baking, fun times with the pinata (Lorna and Rich’s Christmas tradition), some opening of presents and just good times.

Which apparently means that I am (no laughing):

I know I say it every time, but how the heck is my little girl growing up so fast. Joy is now 10 months old.  I can not believe all the wonderful things that she does. She has decided recently that it’s now ok to try and crawl. She’ll scoot on her bum or even crawl backwards, but she just hasn’t been interested in actually moving forward. It’s kinda funny, especially when she is crawling backwards and gets herself stuck on something. Poor thing, she hasn’t quite figured out that she’s the one doing that to herself.  So I did my whole at home growth chart stuff again. Joy seems to be holding steady at 18 pounds. And she is now 27 inches long (that means she’s grown an inch in the last month. Good gracious huh!

What a fantastic time of year. We were fortunate to have Thanksgiving dinner with Rich, Lorna, the kids and some of Lorna’s family. The food was beyond fantastic! We had lots of fun. Dave put together some great game time with the boys and we even brought over the wii for everyone to play. I think everyone had a great time. Dave says the he is grateful for his family and computers. I am grateful for family, friends, our home, our health, and Dave’s great job. There are too many things to list here that I’m grateful for. We have been so blessed this year. Our greatest blessing being Joy.  So I guess I don’t have tons to say, so enjoy some pics instead of all my talking!

So I didn’t get a chance to post about my Aunt Jo and Uncle Dale coming up about a week ago for the UW vs. ASU football game. We had so much fun visiting. They brought my cousin Will, who I’m pretty sure is in love with Joy, but who isn’t. He loved holding her. It was really sweet. For those that don’t know my Aunt Jo’s full name is Jo Ellen. That is where we got Joy’s middle name Ellen. I have so much love and respect for my Aunt Jo and I felt that Ellen was such a beautiful name. So it worked out great. Unfortunately I did not get any pics of Joy with Aunt Jo, but maybe next time.    The game was tons of fun. Pretty chilly, and a little wet, but fun times.  It’s always fun to have visitors and we can’t wait until Christmas. It will be so fun to have almost all of my siblings together. Plus cousins! Anyway, here are some fun pictures from visiting time.

Well, I kinda of feel like I haven’t posted anything lately about what’s been going on in our lives. Though I’m not really sure a whole lot has.  Dave is getting recognized at work. Well actually his whole team is, but there are only four people (including himself) on his team. Anyway out of all of the teams at microsoft, they are being recognized for their productivity and efficiency. I’m soooo proud of him. He has been working very hard. Anyway, that’s kind of a big deal and I’m very happy for him. So I thought I would share that with everyone!

I don’t think I’ve been doing tons. I finally am getting around to some of my food storage plans that I have had for months. I packed and sealed wheat, flour, sugar, and dry milk today. Close to 200 lbs. Sheesh huh! I made quite the mess in the process, but oh well. I’m learning. I’ve ben very proud of my food storage efforts, I’m learning so much and did so much canning this summer. Go me! I went to the cannery for the first time ever in my life last week. It was kinda cool. I only went for bulk pick up, but I’m looking forward to actually going and working in a couple of weeks.

Joy of course is doing all sorts of fun stuff. She now has six teeth. Four on top, two on bottom. She likes to turn herself around in circles on her tummy, scoot forward on her bum, and crawl backwards. She’s not really into the crawling forward thing, kinda funny. She talks and talks and talks. She also loves to copy. So she claps, makes noises with her tongue (like clicking and stuff), she’s waved good bye a couple of times (and grandpa swears she actually said bye bye last week to him So here are some recent pictures since I know that you guys can’t get enough of our cutie pie!

I couldn’t resist this. She’s become very independent about her eating and does not like help. Her look is so dang innocent.
